The Atlanta area has Six Flags, but that’s hard to compare to the world-class theme parks in Orlando! If a theme park group vacation is calling your name, Shofur can handle the transportation between Atlanta and Orlando. Booking a group transportation service is the easiest way to make a long-distance trip between the two cities. A private minibus or charter bus rental will keep your group vacation or long-distance field trip running as smoothly as possible from start to finish.
How to Travel Between Atlanta and Orlando
Planning a group trip involves a lot of moving parts, especially if you’re traveling out of town and to a busy theme park. Let Shofur simplify one of the most important parts of your trip—how you’ll get there!
Relatively small groups traveling for a vacation can skip the caravan hassle with a minibus rental. An 18-passenger minibus rental will keep your group of vacationers from feeling cramped during a long drive and having to deal with hectic traffic. Bigger groups traveling for youth trips will likely need a spacious ride to keep everyone comfortable and content during the long haul. Request a 56-passenger charter bus rental built for the perfect long-distance trip! Minibuses and charter buses can include plush seating, WiFi, power outlets, TVs, and convenient restrooms on certain models.
In addition to having a spacious ride equipped with entertainment features, you’ll also have an experienced charter bus driver! With the right vehicle and a professional taking care of the roads, you can focus on resting, enjoying the ride, or getting ready for Disney and Universal. Call the Shofur team at 1-800-436-8719 to learn more about our long-distance transportation services and charter bus pricing.

Suggested Stops
Quick Route: Macon, GA
Distance from Atlanta: ~85 miles or 1.5 hours
Distance from Orlando: ~365 miles or 5 hours
Macon isn’t too far from Atlanta, but it’s a great place for an early stop to grab food and take in some local history. This Central Georgia city is home to the Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park, a space that preserves traces of human culture dating back more than 17,000 years. The park’s main draw is earthwork mounds developed by South Appalachian Mississippian peoples around 1000 CE. It’s a unique educational stop to learn about the state’s ancient native people before continuing on your journey!
If you’re looking for a bite to eat around Macon, stop at one of Downtown’s popular eateries like Rookery or The Bear’s Den. Groups that don’t mind traveling extra 20 minutes off the highway should opt for a meal at Fish N’ Pig on picturesque Lake Tobesofkee.
Charter bus travel tip: Oversized parking at Macon businesses around Downtown may be limited. Just keep in mind that your driver may need to drip your group off before parking off-site at restaurants or shops.
Scenic Route: Savannah, GA
Distance from Atlanta: ~250 miles or 3.5 hours
Distance from Orlando: ~280 miles or 4 hours
Many consider Savannah to be Georgia’s most beautiful city, which makes it a must-stop location for groups taking their time traveling between Atlanta and Orlando. It’s highly recommended you stay in Savannah for a couple of days to fully enjoy the city. Prioritize seeing historic highlights like Forsyth Park and Bonaventure Cemetery, architectural stunners like the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist and Mickve Israel Synagogue, or educational museums like the Savannah African Art Museum and Telfair Academy.
Foodies will also find a long list of places to try delicious meals and tasty cocktails. Highly-rated favorites include the historic Olde Pink House, Vic’s on the River, The Collins Quarter, and Gryphon. Are the menus at these hotspots not quite looking to your taste? No worries. The food scene in Savannah includes a wide selection of places, so you’re sure to find delicious meals before getting back on the road to Orlando.
Charter bus travel tip: Savannah is notorious for having limited parking options, especially for oversized vehicles. If you’re traveling around Savannah’s Historic District, some roads and parking areas may be restricted. Be sure to look over the city’s guide for motorcoaches before planning your detour in Savannah.
Quick Route: Gainesville and Williston, FL
Distance from Atlanta: ~330 miles or 5 hours
Distance from Orlando: ~115 miles or 2 hours
Gainesville is a convenient stop right off of I-75. It’s home to the University of Florida, several unique museums, and beautiful green spaces. If you have some time to kill, consider visiting the Florida Museum of Natural History, touring the breathtaking Kanapaha Botanical Gardens, or exploring the beautiful natural landscape at Devil’s Millhopper Geological State Park.
If you have a little extra time and you’re a group of outdoorsy folks, consider heading 30 minutes southwest to Williston to explore Devil’s Den Cave. This cave is formed by a karst window, which is when the ground above a subterranean river has collapsed. The underground river is a constant 72°F year-round and is a popular site for snorkeling, SCUBA diving training, and recreational visits for experienced swimmers. Visiting Devil’s Den is by reservation only and is not typically appropriate for young children, as flotation devices are not allowed and there are no shallow areas (The river is essentially a 50-feet deep sinkhole, so being experienced in water is non-negotiable.)
Charter bus travel tip: Gainesville and Williston don’t have specific regulations for charter buses or motorcoaches. However, if you’re planning to stop at Devil’s Den, you’ll want to let them know that your group is traveling by charter bus rental when you make your reservation.
Scenic Route: Jacksonville, FL
Distance from Atlanta: ~350 miles or 5 hours
Distance from Orlando: ~140 miles or 2 hours
Whether you want to unwind in the city or by the beach, Jacksonville is a great location for a short visit during your Atlanta to Orlando travels. Catch a show at the historic Florida Theater, visit exotic animals at the Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary, or do some shopping at the Riverside Arts Market. If your group wants to have a full-on beachbound trip, you’ll have plenty of beaches to choose from around Jacksonville. Hop on your charter bus and travel to the coastline with ease. Popular beaches like Jacksonville Beach, Atlantic Beach, and Ponte Vedra Beach are likely to boast large crowds. The beaches at Little Talbot Island State Park or Huguenot Memorial Park are better bets for smaller crowds and more space for your group to enjoy fun in the sun!
Charter bus travel tip: Parking at a city-area beach may come with limited oversized parking options in lots. Your charter bus will likely need to utilize street parking. If you visit a beach in a state park, your charter bus group will need to pay an entrance fee.
