Why Rent a Bus in Atlantic City?
Many people opt to stay just outside Atlantic City to avoid the high cost of hotel rooms within the casinos. If your group chooses this option, you’ll need to figure out how to get from your hotel to the beach, the boardwalk, and the casinos you want to visit. Here are a few options you can choose from:
- Public transportation: There’s limited public transportation within Atlantic City, but there is the Jitney, a small bus that runs along Pacific Avenue to the Marina District and the Convention Center. The Jitney has very limited routes, though, so you’ll probably need an additional mode of transportation.
- Taxis and rideshares: Atlantic City has plenty of taxi and rideshare services you can rely on. But most cars can hold a maximum of 4-7 people, so they’re not ideal for large groups. Multiple taxis or rideshares can also be expensive.
- Charter buses: With a charter bus, you can visit any location on your itinerary, and your entire group can stay together. Charter buses can be rather pricey, but you can get an estimate on how much your bus will cost from our pricing guide.
Atlantic City Boardwalk and Beach
Atlantic City’s famous wooden boardwalk was first built in 1870, but the version you can visit today was built in 1916. Packed with stores and restaurants, the boardwalk draws tour groups who just want to explore as well as athletes participating in marathons and half-marathons.
Just off the boardwalk, you’ll find Atlantic City’s public beach. Admission is free and the beach is surprisingly uncrowded, since many visitors opt to visit the casinos instead. Lifeguards are on duty from 10am to 6pm during the summer so you can sunbathe or swim, and you can rent beach chairs and umbrellas from shops along the boardwalk.
