Why Rent a Charter Bus in Phoenix?

In Phoenix, there are a few ways you can get around the city, though not all methods of transportation are conducive to large groups. Here are several options to explore:

  • Valley Metro: Phoenix’s local public transportation service, the Valley Metro, offers light rail and bus services (as well as other minor services) throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area, including suburbs like Glendale, Tempe, and Scottsdale. Route coverage is fairly extensive, but if you’re traveling with a large group of 10 or more people, it can be difficult to keep everyone together while you transfer between buses and trains. And there’s always a chance that your final stop isn’t near a metro station.
  • Yellow Cab, Uber, and Lyft: These taxi and rideshare services operate in Phoenix and can be dialed at a moment’s notice. However, these cars can often only accommodate up to 6 passengers at a time, which makes it difficult to coordinate arrival and departure times with large groups. Plus, rideshare surging prices can cause unpredictable changes in cost.
  • Charter Buses: If your group is too large for one car or you’ve found that the Valley Metro doesn’t directly service many stops on your itinerary, a charter bus might be for you! 20 passenger van rental are great for groups that are on the smaller side, while full-sized charter buses are available for large groups who need a little more space. When you rent a bus with Shofur, you’ll also have a professional driver by your side throughout your trip to ensure that everyone travels safely.

Instead of waiting for your transportation to come to you, your coach bus will run on your schedule. Plus, you’ll have air conditioning for Phoenix’s intense heat, WiFi and televisions for entertainment, and more amenities right on your bus to keep all passengers comfortable and happy while you ride. There’s no better way to move a group around Phoenix!

Vacations & Day Trips at Phoenix’s Best Destinations

Phoenix is no stranger to luxury. The city is known for its beautiful golf courses, luxurious spas, five-star hotels, great shopping, and breathtaking views, all coming together to form the perfect recipe for an unforgettable day away from the city. Book a day trip to Raven Golf Club or a weekend getaway at Alvadora Spa with your group. If your group is in a "shopping" kind of mood, add the Phoenix Premium Outlets to your itinerary for a day of shopping and dining.

While you’re on vacation, the last thing you want to think about is driving, especially if you’re out with a large group of friends. Let us pick you up from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport and bring you to your hotel so that you won’t be stuck calling Ubers and splitting your group into separate cars. We can also stick with you throughout your vacation or day trip, ensuring that your group travels around Phoenix without skipping a beat. You can leave the driving to us while you focus on your golf game, enjoy drinks, and relax.

Rent a Bus from Phoenix to Las Vegas

Even though Phoenix holds its own when it comes to “luxury vacations,” few can resist the lure of Las Vegas, just a 4 ½-hour drive from Phoenix’s center. The glitz and glam of Vegas’s world-famous casinos, theaters, and restaurants make for a stunning vacation spot. But, much like Phoenix, you don’t necessarily have to have a “luxury” budget to enjoy what the city has to offer!

Though the drive to Vegas is relatively short, it’s filled with gorgeous views that will keep your eyes glued to your window. And, you can make the drive even more of an event by adding in a few stops along the way:

  • Sedona, about two hours north of Phoenix, sits in the heart of the Arizona red mountains and is known by many as the “Crown Jewel” of the state of Arizona. Stop here for some Instagram-worthy pics that you’ll definitely want to frame after your trip.
  • The Grand Canyon is a bit out of the way if you were planning a straight shot from Phoenix to Vegas, but believe us when we say, “It’s totally worth it.” This bucket-list stop is one of the United States’ most beautiful natural wonders, and even if you aren’t a big fan of hiking, the walk is worth it for the breathtaking views you’ll find here!

a couple smiles while sitting on the edge of the grand canyon, with vast canyons in the distance

  • Hoover Dam lies just outside of Las Vegas, so if it doesn’t make it onto your road trip plan, it’ll make a great day-trip stop during your stay in Vegas. This mind-blowingly massive dam is a sight in and of itself, but tours of the facility reveal the tumultuous history of its construction and the benefits it provides to the area today.

No matter what lies on your Phoenix to Vegas road trip itinerary, Shofur is here to make the trip comfortable. Rent a bus and sit back with reclining seats, WiFi, and panoramic windows to help you take in the view. We’ll handle the driving.

Rent a Bus from Phoenix to Disneyland

Whether you’re traveling with kids or kids-at-heart, Disneyland has something that everyone in your group will love: movie-themed rides, delicious treats, and real-life encounters with your favorite characters. The 6-hour drive might be a lot to handle for some kids, but don’t worry: with a charter bus rental, you’ll have plenty to keep them entertained. Show your favorite Disney movie on the bus’s TV monitors, study park maps with WiFi, and keep the pit stops to a minimum with onboard restrooms. Plus, a professional will handle all of the driving, so no one has to volunteer their car!

The drive to Los Angeles (well, technically, Anaheim) will take you mainly through Arizona and California’s deserts, which, like we said before, are beautiful to see. But there are also a couple of notable detours you can take, depending on your route.

If you hop on I-10, you’ll pass Joshua Tree National Park, named for its unique Joshua trees and known for its stunning landscapes.

Or you can leave Phoenix on I-8, drive down by the Mexico border, and swing through San Diego on your way up, just to keep the drive interesting.

Our Favorite Group-Friendly Destinations in Phoenix

No matter what brings you to Phoenix, we’d definitely recommend carving out time for these group-friendly spots:

Desert Botanical Garden

Great for: school trips, senior citizen trips, weddings, private parties, and corporate events

Though the words “desert” and “garden” don’t seem to belong in the same sentence, the stunning flora and fauna of Papago Park’s Desert Botanical Garden will surely redefine your mental vision of “desert” after your visit. Various species of cacti are a given, but you’ll find flowers and even butterfly exhibits scattered throughout the garden’s grounds too.

The garden can also serve as the backdrop for your next corporate or private event, with six separate venues that can hold up to 250 guests.

Bus tip: The gardens have a large parking lot that should easily accommodate your charter bus; however, we recommend calling ahead at (480) 941-1225 to ensure that they’ll have enough space.

Best bus parking address: 1021 N. Galvin Parkway, Phoenix, AZ 85008

Camelback Mountain

Great for: families, friends, and outdoor enthusiasts

a girl stands at the edge of a hiking trail, overlooking phoenix

It’s not unusual to have to drive hours outside of a major city to find stunning natural areas and hiking trails. But if you’re a fan of hiking and not a fan of long drives, you’re in luck! Camelback Mountain lies just 20 minutes from downtown Phoenix  and provides stunning views of the surrounding desert and of the city’s skyline.

Two separate trails snake up the mountain, both with numerous roadblocks that make the hikes particularly difficult, even for seasoned hikers. These trails aren’t recommended for amateurs.

Bus parking tip: Each of Camelback Mountain’s trails has different parking arrangements.

Echo Canyon Trail has a parking lot (as well as restrooms, water, and benches), but the lot often fills in the morning and stays full all day. We’d definitely recommend having your bus drop you off at the entrance.

Cholla Trail has no designated parking or facilities. So, a bus drop-off is definitely your best bet for easy access to the trail!

Best bus drop-off address:

4925 E McDonald Drive, Phoenix, AZ 85018 (Echo Canyon Trail)

6131 E Cholla Lane, Paradise Valley, AZ 85253 (Cholla Trail)

Phoenix Zoo

Great for: field trips, senior citizen trips, families, and amateur zoologists

One of the United States’ largest zoos, the Phoenix Zoo is home to over 3,000 animals and coordinates a large conservation effort aimed at preserving endangered species. Visitors can wander through exhibits featuring animals from Africa, the tropics, and right here in Arizona. For an up-close look, custom tours can be arranged for groups, with special attention paid to the exhibits your group wants to see!

Bus tip: Buses are instructed to enter the zoo via Galvin Parkway and may load and unload passengers at the curb near the entrance. From June to August, buses may park in the main parking lot, but from September to May, buses are instructed to park in the overflow lot (located just before the main lot).

Best address: 455 North Galvin Parkway, Phoenix, AZ 85008

Phoenix Art Museum

Great for: field trips, senior citizen trips, corporate events, weddings, families, and art aficionados

A variety of event spaces are also available for wedding receptions, corporate dinners, or private parties. All spaces are surrounded by beautiful art, creating unique backdrops for unforgettable events!

Bus parking tip: Free parking is available in the art museum’s main lot, but we recommend calling ahead to ensure that your bus will have enough space to park.

Frequently Asked Questions

The answer is: it depends. When you call one of our 24/7 reservation specialists with your trip details, they will build a quote for you based on a few factors, including how far you'll be traveling, which bus you rent, how many hours or days you will need the rental, and where and when you will be picked up. Depending on your trip itinerary, your rental cost will be broken down by hour, day, or mile.

You can learn more on our charter bus pricing page, and your reservation specialist will be happy to break down pricing further when you call.

Our network offers full-size charter buses, minibus rentals, and sprinter vans. Full-size charter bus rentals are great for larger groups or longer distance trips and can accommodate up to 56 passengers, while minibus rentals work well for medium-sized groups of 12 to 25 passengers. Groups even smaller than that can rent a sprinter van, which comfortably accommodates up to 12 people.

Visit our buses page to learn more about the charter bus options available in Shofur's network.

  • Overhead storage bins
  • Luggage bays
  • ADA accessible features

When you call to get a free, no-obligation quote, you will get a number that is transparent and all-inclusive. Below is a list of components your quote covers:

  • The bus itself
  • A professional charter bus driver
  • The bus's mileage and fuel
  • Insurance
  • Tolls
  • Processing fees

Remember that your quote will not include certain aspects that are out of Shofur's control or at your own discretion, such as:

  • Gratuity for your driver (at your discretion, typically 5-10% of the total cost of the rental)
  • Parking fees
  • Lodging for your driver (required for multi-day trips)

No. Your professional, trained, and highly experienced charter bus driver will take care of all the driving so you can sit back and relax during your journey. Each charter bus driver has undergone numerous background checks and driving tests to ensure their safety and expertise.

Yes. A fee of 10% of the total cost of the trip is due at the time of your booking.

Your rental will need to be paid in full 7 days before your trip date.

Most charter bus providers will allow you to drink on your bus. However, be sure to let your reservation specialist know so that they can determine for sure. Also, be mindful about not leaving a mess behind, or you may be subject to a cleaning fee that is usually $250.
