Though the words “desert” and “garden” don’t seem to belong in the same sentence, the stunning flora and fauna of Papago Park’s Desert Botanical Garden will surely redefine your mental vision of “desert” after your visit. Various species of cacti are a given, but you’ll find flowers and even butterfly exhibits scattered throughout the garden’s grounds too.

The garden can also serve as the backdrop for your next corporate or private event, with six separate venues that can hold up to 250 guests.

Camelback Mountain

It’s not unusual to have to drive hours outside of a major city to find stunning natural areas and hiking trails. But if you’re a fan of hiking and not a fan of long drives, you’re in luck! Camelback Mountain lies just 20 minutes from downtown Phoenix  and provides stunning views of the surrounding desert and of the city’s skyline.

Two separate trails snake up the mountain, both with numerous roadblocks that make the hikes particularly difficult, even for seasoned hikers. These trails aren’t recommended for amateurs.

Bus parking tip: Each of Camelback Mountain’s trails has different parking arrangements.

Echo Canyon Trail has a parking lot (as well as restrooms, water, and benches), but the lot often fills in the morning and stays full all day. We’d definitely recommend having your bus drop you off at the entrance.

Cholla Trail has no designated parking or facilities. So, a bus drop-off is definitely your best bet for easy access to the trail!
