Charter Buses

What they are: Large buses, sometimes also called “tour buses” or “motorcoaches,” that hold about 56 passengers. Full-sized charter buses are great for long-distance trips because they include a lot of great amenities, but they can also be used for short-distance trips or shuttling services.

Thanks to their size, charter buses offer the widest range of amenities, including:

Shofur charter bus
  • Onboard WiFi
  • Climate-controlled cabin
  • Cushioned, reclining seats
  • Overhead storage bins
  • Luggage bays under the bus
  • Onboard restrooms
  • Individual power outlets
  • TV monitors and a DVD player
  • AM/FM radio
  • PA system

Minibuses

What they are: Small buses that hold fewer passengers than a full-sized charter bus but more passengers than a typical car or minivan. They’re often used for short-distance trips or shuttling services, but they can also be used to travel long distances.

At Shofur, we’re able to find you a range of minibus sizes, able to hold as few as 18 passengers or as many as 35.

Due to their smaller size, minibuses might not offer the same range of amenities as a full-sized coach, but you can still find the following onboard one of these compact vehicles:

Shofur small minibus
  • Free WiFi
  • Air-conditioning and heating
  • Cushioned, reclining seats
  • Luggage storage above seats
  • Power outlets
  • TV monitors and a DVD player
  • AM/FM radio
  • PA system

Sprinter Vans

What they are: Vans that typically hold about 12 passengers. Sprinter vans are most often used for quick trips like airport transfers or for all-day shuttle services.

Sprinter van amenities are similar to what you’ll find in a car, including:

Shofur van
  • Onboard WiFi
  • Climate-controlled cabin
  • Space for one carry-on bag per passenger
  • Plush leather seats
  • Tinted windows and privacy curtains

What about ADA accessibility?

We don’t think anyone should miss out on a trip because of mobility concerns. If your group requires an ADA-compliant bus, let your reservation specialist know when you call to book, and we’ll find you a bus with all of the features you need!

Which Bus Should I Charter?

Here are a few questions to keep in mind when you’re determining which bus is best for you:

How many people am I traveling with?

The number of passengers in your group will determine how big your bus needs to be. But, in some instances, multiple buses might suit your group better, which leads us to our next question:

Will I need multiple buses?

If your group exceeds the maximum capacity of the largest bus we charter (56 passengers), then you’ll need to charter multiple buses for your trip—which we can definitely help you do!

In other instances, you might want to split your passengers into separate groups—maybe each group has chosen their own itinerary, or some members would rather stay separate. Or maybe you’re setting up a shuttle service, and everyone won’t need to be on the bus at once.

In any of these cases, you might want to consider booking multiple buses for your trip.

What amenities am I looking for?

Some buses offer amenities that other models don’t.

If televisions and DVD players are a must, you’ll definitely want to book a full-sized charter bus or a minibus.

If your group would like WiFi access, a sprinter van won’t have that option.

Refer to our chart above to compare amenity options.

How far will I be traveling?

Similar to our point above about amenities, consider how long you’ll be in your bus before you settle on a vehicle.

If your trip lasts longer than a few hours, your passengers might want reclining seats to help them relax, which you can only find on charter buses and minibuses.

Full-sized charter buses also have onboard restrooms, which can help eliminate pit stops on road trips.

But if your small group just needs a ride across town, you probably won’t need any more bells and whistles than what a sprinter van will offer.

How much storage do I need?

If you’re a sports team or a band transporting lots of equipment or if your passengers are notorious over-packers, extra storage space might be necessary to keep the cabin free of clutter.

In any of these cases, a full-sized charter bus is the way to go—undercarriage luggage bays will have plenty of space to keep everything neatly tucked away.

If you’re planning a quick day trip, odds are your passengers are only bringing small carry-on items, which can be stored in overhead bins (available on minibuses) or in passengers’ laps.
