Why Rent a Charter Bus in Staten Island?
Staten Island is the only one of the five boroughs that isn’t connected by the subway. If you want to get to Staten Island, you only have two choices—driving or taking the Staten Island ferry.
Once you arrive on the island, you’ll find buses but no other form of public transit. If you need faster or more personalized transportation, you’ll have to rely on rideshares, taxis, or a charter bus. Here are a few factors to consider when choosing your transportation:
- Public buses: MTA buses are affordable, but they run on limited schedules and visit limited stops. Social distancing may also be more difficult on a public bus.
- Taxis or rideshares: Both taxis and rideshares are available on Staten Island, though you won’t find nearly as many taxis as you will in Manhattan or Brooklyn. Taxis, Uber, and Lyft make it easy to get exactly where you want to go, but if you have a large group or want to visit multiple stops, the costs can quickly add up.
- Charter buses: Charter buses offer a more private and personalized ride than public buses. Depending on the size of your group, they can also be more affordable than taxis or rideshares. You can call Shofur to get a quote before you depart on your trip.
Field Trips to Staten Island
Because Staten Island is popular with families, it has plenty of cool and educational attractions for children. Your students can learn about New York’s past at Historic Richmond Town, meet adorable animals at the Staten Island Zoo, or interact with the exhibits at the Staten Island Children’s Museum.
With air-conditioning and plush seats, a charter bus rental offers a more comfortable ride than a traditional school bus, especially when you’re transporting kids from Brooklyn or Newark. You can even request WiFi so your kids can do research on their personal electronic devices during the ride.

She also captured many pictures of loving, intimate relationships between women for her and her friends’ private collections, and she spent 53 years in a devoted relationship with her partner, Gertrude Tate. The Alice Austen House has been designated a national site of LGBTQ+ history and contains exhibits about Austen and Tate’s life there as well as about Austen’s photography.
