Family-Friendly Fun

One of the most famous of the city's family-friendly attractions is Omaha's Henry Doorly's Zoo and Aquarium with tons of interactive exhibits. The zoo features the world's biggest indoor desert under the world's biggest geodesic dome with plants and animals from deserts all around the world. Underneath the desert exhibit is a display of nocturnal animals. The zoo also has the biggest indoor rainforest filled with tropical creatures and waterfalls. The aquarium section of the zoo allows visitors to walk along the bottom of the huge salt water tank as sharks and fish swim above your head.

Another must-see attraction for children is Omaha Children's Museum with a mixture of permanent and special exhibits that help children use their imagination and learn new things by playing. The Imagination Playground gives children the opportunity to take part in real-life activities, such as going to the grocery store, working at a bank, or visiting the doctor. The museum also has a space to create art and tinker with materials to make new items. If you visit during the summer, children have the opportunity to play in an outdoor water garden.

Historical Sites

For a piece of the city's own history, along with traveling exhibits highlighting national history, The Durham Museum has everything from restored steam train cars to a genuine old-fashioned soda fountain. Located in the art deco building that used to be the city's Union Station, the museum has replicas of storefronts from the 1940's, as well as a rare coin and document collection.

The city is also the location of the Home for Boys started by Father Flanagan in 1917 that later grew into the Village of Boys Town. Today, you can go on a tour of the village which features a preserved version of Father Flanagan's own house, as well as chapels and gardens used by the boys. The National Historic Landmark campus also has a museum located in the former boys' dining hall with artifacts from both the village and the movie based on the organization started by Father Flanagan.

For a look at the multicultural side of Omaha, consider visiting the Love's Jazz and Art Center filled with African-American traditional and performance art. The center also has artifacts and exhibits based on the cultural history of jazz music in the United States as a whole and Nebraska specifically. Or visit El Museo Latino, the first art and history museum focused on Latino culture located in the Midwestern U.S. To go along with the focus on Latin culture, the museum is surrounded by authentic Latin restaurants and stores.

The Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge is so well-known in the Nebraska area that locals and visitors simply refer to it as Bob. A unique design and 3,000 foot long expanse make this suspension bridge a must-see on your visit. Once you reach the middle of the bridge, you are straddling the border between Nebraska and Iowa.

For a romantic option in the city, go to the Heartland of America Park featuring a light and water show reaching 300 feet into the sky. Gondola rides along the water or a long walk through the beautiful park are ideal for couples looking for some quiet time.

Omaha offers choices for whatever type of visitor decides to hop on a bus and go to the city. From historic sites featuring local Nebraskan culture and lore to a family-friendly zoo, aquarium and children's museum, the city provides endless amounts of entertainment for everyone to enjoy.

Frequently Asked Questions

The answer is: it depends. When you call one of our 24/7 reservation specialists with your trip details, they will build a quote for you based on a few factors, including how far you'll be traveling, which bus you rent, how many hours or days you will need the rental, and where and when you will be picked up. Depending on your trip itinerary, your rental cost will be broken down by hour, day, or mile.

You can learn more on our charter bus pricing page, and your reservation specialist will be happy to break down pricing further when you call.

Our network offers full-size charter buses, minibus rentals, and sprinter vans. Full-size charter bus rentals are great for larger groups or longer distance trips and can accommodate up to 56 passengers, while minibus rentals work well for medium-sized groups of 12 to 25 passengers. Groups even smaller than that can rent a sprinter van, which comfortably accommodates up to 12 people.

Visit our buses page to learn more about the charter bus options available in Shofur's network.

  • Parking fees
  • Lodging for your driver (required for multi-day trips)

Your rental will need to be paid in full 7 days before your trip date.
