Rent a Bus to Cincinnati

Cincinnati has picked up a number of different nicknames down through the years, Porkopolis, New Rome, and Queen City. Whatever you call it, the city is one of the great river towns that played a pivotal part in the early settlement of the United States. With a metropolitan area of two and a quarter million people, the city is the commercial and cultural center of the Ohio River Valley. Centrally located, Cincinnati is reached in several hours from the metropolitan areas east of the Mississippi. The home to such corporate giants as General Electric and Proctor & Gamble, this is a city that values it heritage and has made an investment in its public facilities. So come to Cincy, sit down on the river with a Hudy and a five-way and you’ll leave with a different perspective on life.

Attractions

The city has luckily been able to escape fire, earthquake, and the bulldozer so much of the architecture of the 1800s is still standing in the city. The centerpiece of downtown is Fountain Square. The ornate turn-of-the-century font is the site of many of the city’s annual events like Octoberfest and summer concert series. The city has done a great job of turning their Union Terminal Train Station into an entertainment center. The art deco wonder now holds the museum of natural history and an IMAX theater. The city has revitalized the downtown with a series of parks along the river starting with Smale Riverfront Park and moving upriver to Yeatmans Cove, Sawyer Point and Berry International Friendship Parks. It is a popular lunch/workout area that has a walking bridge over to the Newport Aquarium. It is also home to many local and national concerts.

While the downtown area of the city has plenty to keep visitors busy, a trip to town is not complete without a stop at Mt. Adams. The neighborhood rises up on the hill east of downtown along Columbia Parkway. Mt. Adams is dominated by the 19th century Eden Park that is the home of the art museum, playhouse and the Krohn Conservatory. It is a tranquil 19th century urban park with has gazebos, pavilions and a reflecting pool that doubles as an ice rink in winter. You’ll find Mt. Adams has an eclectic little retail area on top of the hill.

Cincinnati is a family-friendly town with plenty of activities for kids. While most people have heard of the famous Kings Island amusement park that lies a few mile east of the city in nearby Mason, Coney Island lies in the heart of the city. This waterpark has been offering relief from the summer heat since 1886. The Web Extreme is a multi-level entertainment center right off Interstate 75 that offers laser tag, black light miniature golf and bowling as well as its on go-kart track. The zoo and botanical gardens lie together just north of UC on Vine Street and features white Bengal tigers.

Recreation

The city has two professional sport teams: the NFL Bengals and MLB Reds, one of the original major league baseball team. The Reds home is the Great American Ball Park, consistently rated one of the best in the nation. The Bengals play next door on Sunday at Paul Brown Stadium. These, along with the US Bank Arena, form an impressive spots complex along the river joined by Smalle Riverfront Park. The University of Cincinnati (UC) is located north of downtown in Clifton and plays its football and basketball on campus. The city has a wonderful system of city parks and one of the most anticipated events is the symphony’s series of concerts at each of the parks and nature preserves. For those looking to get out into nature, you can canoe down the Little Miami on the east side in the town of Milford.

Restaurants and Nightlife

It would be difficult to pin down night life in Cincy to any particular neighborhood. The riverfront is very popular with ball games or concerts many nights during the summer. Over the last few years, the downtown has seen the rebirth of the Over the Rhine around Music Hall. Walnut Street near the courthouse also has a number of bars and restaurants for the after-work crowd. The fun is not just limited to the north bank of the Ohio River as Newport in northern Kentucky also has an exciting nightlife. For those you who feel lucky, the Horseshow Casino on Reading Road has become a popular destination for gamblers. Mt. Adams has always been a popular destination for revelers for the beautiful views of the city and endless selection of bars. The Clifton neighborhood around UC or Dana Avenue near Xavier are the place to be on game nights as students fill the bars. For a special dining experience hop on a dinner cruise down the Ohio River on one of the old time riverboats.

Whether it’s a game, a concert or just an evening out there is always something happening. If you would like to charter bus service to Cincy, or are interested in bus rental for your next big event, contact Shofur for more information.
