A Fabulous Vacation in Arkansas

Arkansas is a great place to kick off your shoes and relax. There is scarcely a better way to spend a vacation than on a charter bus in the middle of the action down here. Life is a bit slower, and there is plenty of rural areas to explore. In fact, this state borders the Mississippi River. It has an overabundance of parks and other recreational areas. Add that to the mountainous terrains, rivers, and hot springs; it is a little piece of heaven on earth. The Natural State is home to the rugged Ozarks region. They are known for the limestone caves and hiking trails throughout, not to mention ample wildlife. Little Rock is the capital, and it has a special Clinton Presidential Center with archives and other exhibits.

The Wal-Mart Legacy

Bentonville is home to the world's largest superstore retailer, Wal-Mart. Sam Walton was from the Newport, Arkansas area. He, and his wife Helen, later moved to Bentonville and opened his first store, which was called the Walton’s 5&10. That happened in 1950. The first official Wal-Mart was opened in Rodgers in 1962. The museum, as well as most of the corporate executives, still lives in and around the Bentonville area. You can tour the museum and see how this major department store has taken over the world.

The Bluegrass Music Festivities

When people want some good, old country fun, they head down to Mountain View. This area is known for its first class fishing, as well as camping, rivers and plenty of Bluegrass Music. It's well known that these southern bumpkins are experts when it comes to Bluegrass. Listening to this music is soothing and just the way to spend the day; all while sitting on a river bank. This Ozark area is full of culture and plenty of places to grab a great bite to eat too.

The Capitol City Is Amazing

Not only did Collin Raye make the capital city of Little Rock popular when he wrote a song in 1994, but the city has so much charm that most people fall in love. After you see the Bill Clinton Presidential Museum, head on over to see the Little Rock's lighted downtown bridges to sight see. Located right on the Arkansas River, this spectacular site shows the downtown area a glow on the river's front. Make sure to visit at night as the view is breathtaking.

Little Rock has been named one of America's most beautiful cities for many years, and one trip to this area and you will see why. The locals have pride in their land and there's not the litter, trash and graffiti you find in other big cities. Life is definitely different here, but it is a good kind of change. This city is also known as having the fourth largest economy in the nation, which makes crime rates lower.

Down Home Cooking At Its Best

Most of the people who visit this state love exploring the local hang-outs and fascinating restaurants. Almost every town in this state has scrumptious restaurants that do their town proud. Does your mouth water for southern comfort foods? The portions are huge with piles of mashed potatoes, colored greens, and plenty of fried chicken to go around. The wide-ranging reputation for good eats is renowned.

The Natural State is known for its famous soda fountains too. If you ever happen to be in the Fort Smith area, be sure to stop by Price's Drug Store. This old fashioned soda shop is a blast from the past. It's just one of many in the state that serves ice cream the nostalgic way. The Venetian Inn over in Tontitown is known for its handmade pasta. You've never had pasta like this before.
